Hi Astronomy Members
On Friday November 24th at 7pm we will have our last General Meeting of the year and after a short Club status report we will have a presentation by our own Garth Jones on “Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity”.
Saturday December 16th at the St Hilda’s Church Hall we will have our
3rd Annual Christmas Party. Tickets will be on sale at the General meeting and will be $ 7.50 Per Person. The Supper is Pot Luck and BYOB although soft drinks will be supplied. Danny will supply Music for Dancing and we are collecting some great door prizes. Doors open at 6pm and Dinner will be at 7pm. Co-Hosts Debra and Bette will take some time at the November General Meeting to tell us the up to date news on the party. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
The Astronomy Calendars and Beginners Handbooks will be on sale for those who ordered them at the General Meeting. The Calendars are $ 10.00 and the Handbooks are $ 17.00. If you pay by cheque would you please make it payable to the Sunshine Coast Astronomy Club.
Our first meeting of the new year will be on Friday January 26th and will feature a “Round Table Discussion” on Astro- Imaging led by club member Erwin Deiner. Astro-Imaging or photography to most of us is a fascinating addition to Astronomy and some of our Club Members are developing a great interest in this subject. If you have taken some photographs bring them along to the “Round Table”. The more photographs we can look at the more we will learn what makes a good Astro- Shot.
Danny Sklazeski has donated an Astronomy Lapel Light for a door prize at the Christmas Dance. Thanks Danny. Add this to the Monogrammed Shirts
And Magazine subscription that we have and with more than a month to go we are shaping up for a great party.
When entering our Club room at the High School would everyone please enter and leave by the door at the back of the room. This will leave space for setting up of Video and Screen equipment for our presentations that tend to be near the blackboard area at the front of the room.
David Thompson is currently fitting Dew Shields to the Club Telescopes that will greatly enhance viewing pleasure for the members.
Danny Sklazeski is looking to overhaul our Library and bring in more books for the beginner and intermediate stargazer.
During our coffee break if you have a question about anything that we do or a technical astronomy inquiry, bring it up. We are a friendly bunch and will do everything we can to find the answer.
Thanks Guys
See you on the 24th at 7pm
Bill
